Bohinj – Vogar

Highlights: lower panoramic flight, take-off point directly above Lake Bohinj, short walk through shepherd pastures to the take-off point, more affordable flight

Tandem paragliding from the Vogar take-off is a long-standing classic. When you arrive at the shore of Lake Bohinj, it’s hard to miss a sky with at least a few paragliders in it. These are most often located right above Vogar Hill. The path to Vogar takes you along the road through the Voja valley towards Mount Blato, which is an excellent starting point for hiking trips. When you get out of the van or car at an altitude of about 1050 metres above sea level, a picturesque shepherd’s path leads you past pastures and former shepherd’s huts to the take-off point at Vogar. During this 15-minute walk we have time to get to know each other better as tandem passengers and pilots. When we reach the take-off point, we have a direct view of Lake Bohinj and the Bohinj Valley. We are standing about 500 metres above the landing. The views reach the ridge of the South Bohinj Peaks, the last major mountain barrier before the Adriatic Sea. Due to the favourable thermal conditions, the flight can often be extended and, with a bit of luck, approach 20 minutes. The take-off point is visible directly from the landing. We often suggest flying from Vogar when weather conditions make it impossible to fly from Vogel.
